UMaine recommends all university members to avoid non-essential travel domestically and internationally due to the rapidly changing health situation in many destinations.
It is important to us that when students go abroad, they will be able to have the enriching and interactive experiences that will enhance their education. We want to ensure minimal risk to their health and safety and to their finances.
All summer 2021 study abroad programs have been canceled. We will be assessing Fall 2021 programs in May, referencing the CDC and Department of State travel warnings and recommendations. We are closely monitoring common destination countries and their immigration policies, and staying informed on risk management strategies being discussed in our field.
Students can still make plans with the Study Abroad Advisor, especially for programs taking place in the Spring 2022 semester and beyond.
Visit our UMaine Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates page for more detailed information.
Peer Advising Update:
For the Fall semester 2021, we anticipate keeping all of our advising online through Zoom until further notice. We will announce new Peer Advising hours at the beginning of the semester.
